The view from the Ring of Kerry near Caherdaniel
Abbies cottage is located only a few minutes drive from the nearby village of Caherdaniel and the local facilities for horse riding, fishing, walking and water sports. (see next page for all the activities)

Caherdaniel is tiny but beautiful and set in one of the most scenic locations on the Ring of Kerry overlooking Derrynane Harbour, Scariff and Deenish Islands, Kenmare Bay and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Sitting right on a beautiful bay it has two wonderful, sandy beaches. A stone ringfort (cathair in Irish) is nearby, as is Derrynane House, which was home to Daniel O'Connell, and now part of Drrynane National Park.

The Iveragh peninsula is one of Irelands leading tourist destinations whose scenic beauty, landscape, diversity and heritage are recognised through a variety of national and European Designations.
Staigue Fort
Waterville is only a couple of minutes scenic drive from Caherdaniel and the premier coastal touring centre on the Ring of Kerry. There are shops and pubs as well as an excellent choice of restaurants - from budget to fine cuisine - with seafood being a specialty in many of them.

The Ring of Kerry panoramic route has long been one of the favorite sightseeing tours of Ireland and is leading around the Iveragh Peninsula passing through a succession of magnificent landscapes.
A less known side route leads from Waterville to Ballinskelligs and through beautiful mountain scenery further on to Portmagee and Valentia Island.
